Past weekend guides
Every weekend we've covered so far.
Weekend of Friday 23 October
Dress rehearsal weekend: candy, costumes and one very polite haunted trail
Saturday afternoon belongs to Monster Mash in Leesburg: come at 1 for the pumpkin carvers and stay for the 3:30 costume contest. Then head west for Lovettsville's free trunk-or-treat at 5 and the park trail after dark. Older kids get the morning, bobsledding on skateboards at Hanson. Sunday, book Salamander's haunted trail, at 6:30 if your crew prefers its ghosts off duty.
Weekend of Friday 16 October
Farms by day, frights by night, pickles on Sunday
Saturday belongs to the Farm Tour: start at 10 at your farthest farm and work back toward home. Then pick your Halloween party by age, Truck or Treat for the little ones who like big wheels, the Reeks for anyone 10 and up who claims to be brave. Sunday, it's pickles in Sterling or a free pretend campout at Banshee Reeks.
Weekend of Friday 9 October
Pumpkins, kites, and a Monday off
DT Fest at One Loudoun on Saturday for Nepali music, food and kites. Temple Hall first thing Sunday for pumpkins. Go to Great Country Farms on Monday as the usual weekend activities are still running.
